With the long-awaited news that the U.S will finally open to fully vaccinated from the U.K in November, we are eagerly preparing our suitcases for the trip across the Atlantic. But where to head to first? Never fear, we have you covered. Here are our top recommendations for your first trip back to the U.S!
Visit North Carolina
North Carolina Discovery
North Carolina is one of the most historic states in the U.S. The history of the state can be dated back to the reign of Charles II, where the sole Carolina colony was first formed in the 1660’s. In the present day, the region is split North and South, and offer miles of coastline and beaches, mountain scenery, championship golf and true southern hospitality.
This trip takes visitors to Charlotte, the Home of NASCAR and Bank of America, its size and draw give the city world-class sporting events, arts and entertainment. The city is so called named after the wife of King George in 1768, and therefore also goes by the moniker of the “Queen City”. From Charlotte, head to Asheville, home to the historic country retreat of the Biltmore Estate, while also exploring the many local breweries and eateries that call North Carolina home. After a couple of nights in Asheville, travel to Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina, with its elements of coastal and piedmont culture combined. Raleigh has everything a large cosmopolitan city has to offer yet retains the pace and gentility of a smaller southern city. Take the journey from Raleigh to the scenic Outer Banks of North Carolina, home to stunning beaches, amazing open wildlife (including roaming wild horses), and the Outer Banks Scenic Byway. The Outer Banks is also home of the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Finally, stop in Wilmington and Cape Fear, before heading back to Charlotte.

From Memphis, continue the musical voyage by visiting Nashville, the music city and home of country music. Louisiana Travel
Louisiana – An Authentic Deep South Experience
Embark on a journey to Louisiana to experience true Southern hospitality at its finest. Listen to the streets filled with music, embrace the Cajun and Creole cultures that run through the people of Louisiana, and explore the history of one of the most diverse regions in the USA.
This itinerary keeps it authentic with overnights in historic B&Bs and Inns and some of the finest plantation homes in the South. Slow paced and relaxed, it’s mandatory to take your time! It’s off the highways and main roads where you’ll find the most genuine and friendly locals, mouth-watering cuisine (the state dish is Gumbo!) and a story like no other.
Then there’s that world-famous music emanating from every nook and cranny. Your first experience of a real life juke joint will be a holiday highlight. Explore the grandiose plantation homes that line the Mississippi River and the misty swamplands teeming with wildlife. Mooch through sleepy Southern towns where little has changed. Then, by way of contrast, end your road trip in the vibrant French Quarter of New Orleans. It doesn’t get more authentic than Louisiana!
New Orleans is where the trip begins, with the aforementioned French Quarter being the heart and soul of the city. Swathed in the romance of pirates, voodoo and Mardi Gras, New Orleans was built in the 1700’s and represents more than 300 years of French, Spanish and American culture. Don’t forget to visit the Mardi Gras Museum and learn more about the energetic festival that takes place in February. After New Orleans, go deeper into Louisiana by heading for Baton Rouge, the state capital of Louisiana, and unearth of all its history rooted in the Civil War. The heart of Louisiana is further explored upon journeys through St. Francisville, Alexandria, Natchitoches, and Shreveport, before winding down at Lake Charles and getting lost in the food culture of Lafayette (mind those alligators!), before heading back to where your journey began in New Orleans.
