Top Travel Agents on VIP Trip to New Orleans with British Airways
British Airways and New Orleans CVB treated their best performing travel trade partners to the ultimate New Orleans experience to promote the launch of the new direct service to the city. The first ever ‘Party in the Sky’ departed from Heathrow on Friday 24 February to showcase the world-famous Mardi Gras celebrations in the Big Easy.
The group embarked on the British Airways charter flight to New Orleans where special guests Nicole Scherzinger, YolanDa Brown and the #BuskForYourSeat competition winners performed a gig in the sky, compered by JazzFM. NOLA restaurant in Shoreditch, London created a specially themed menu of New Orleans favourite dishes and cocktails. This special menu will continue to be served when the scheduled service starts on the 27th March 2017 for the first month of operation.
On Friday and Saturday, the group watched the Mardi Gras parades including the Krewes of Hermes and Endymion from a private grand stand at the InterContinental New Orleans hotel. On Sunday, the group enjoyed the most elaborate Mardi Gras parade, Bacchus, from a private viewing spot at the Sheraton New Orleans and witnessed the royal toast between the King of Bacchus and the King of Orpheus – Harry Connick Junior as they stopped in front of the hotel.
Daytime activities included walking tours of the city, paddle steamers, cooking schools, museum visits and plenty of southern cuisine.
Comments from Participants:
“There are very few places on the planet than can offer so much variety in one place, how travelling a few blocks can completely change your environment and experiences. Culture, excitement, history, fantastic food, amazing people and my heart – New Orleans has them all.”
Robert Kendall, Commercial Executive, Funway Holidays International Inc.
“What a fantastic experience on the inaugural BA flight to NOLA. Mardi Gras was on my bucket list prior to the invite, and the electric atmosphere of the carnival didn’t disappoint. I’m so happy to say that I have experienced Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and it’s one of the best festivals I’ve been to!”
Jonathan Couch, Purchasing Manager – Americas & The Caribbean, Dnata
“One of the many highlights of this amazing trip has to be walking through the French Quarter and listening to street performers playing live jazz music. It great to know our clients can soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful city outside of the jazz bars and music venues.”
Clare Harvey, Reservations Manager - USAirtours
“The trip was definitely a money can’t buy experience from start to finish, Nicole, Yolanda and the Buskers on board the outbound flight partying with everyone in the aisles is an experience I will never forget. New Orleans certainly knows how to party.”
Carl Breton, Gold Corporate, Travel Counsellors
