Set to open June 2017 in Springfield, this will be the only museum to honour the life and work of Springfield native, Theodor Seuss Geisel. The Museum will feature highly interactive experiences for children, with a strong focus on promoting literacy, as well as artwork, memorabilia and furniture from Ted’s home studio.
This year the Joker roller coaster is coming to Six Flags New England in Agawam.
The Joker features a large, twisting track frame. Named after the fictional character, The Joker is said that it will be one of the most exciting thrill rides in the park’s history.
Corsello Butcheria will open early 2017 in Easthampton. After living in Rome for seven years, Corsello’s owners Vincent and Kasey decided to bring their passion for Italian-style butchery back to Western Massachusetts. Corsello is a Roman-market style butchery serving custom cut meat, ready to cook victuals and ready to eat specialties.
Vasa Waterfront opened on 1 March 2017 in Salisbury and it is a new dining experience on the Merrimack River. Enjoy a cocktail on the deck or sample the Raw Bar while taking in stunning views of the river and Downtown Newburyport, MA.
James Beard Award-winning chef Sanford D’Amato and wife Angie relocated to Hatfield, Western Massachusetts and opened Good Stock Farm Cooking School in 2014. Now, in addition to its regular schedule of cooking classes, Good Stock Farm offers more immersive three-day getaways. These experiences are full of surprises and include added amenities such as lengthier cooking class times, special wines from the cellar and local vineyards and market trips—all modeled after Angie and Sandy’s experience teaching on bike trips in France in Italy. Visitors can join 25-27 August, 15-17 September, 6-8 October and 20-22 October.
Ruka opened in December 2016 at The Godfrey Hotel in Boston and it is a contemporary Peruvian restaurant.
Start Line Brewery open in December 2016 in Hopkinton, central Massachusetts and it is a new Craft Brewing Company operating at Water Fresh Farm.
Battle Road Brewery and Brew House opened December 2016 in Maynard, central Massachusetts. Brewery tours are available at 11am, 3pm and there is also and onsite Brew House restaurant.
Springdale Barrel Room opened in December 2016 in Framingham, central Massachusetts. Springdale will house a barrel room, a taproom and retail space with seating people and 12 barrel-aged Springdale beers on tap.
Courtyard by Marriott
This new 92 room hotel will open in June 2017 and it will be located in Lenox, the Berkshires.
A 44-room boutique hotel is slated to open in Salem June 2017. The property will be outfitted in mid-century modern décor with vintage retail-inspired touches. There will be an onsite restaurant, a rooftop bar and much more.
This new integrated resort casino is designed to enhance the entire urban centre of Springfield. Visitors will find a 250-room hotel with world-class amenities including a spa, pool and roof deck, a gaming space with 3,000 slot machines, 75 gaming tables, a poker room and high limit VIP gambling area, retail and restaurant space.
Opening: June 2019
Wynn Boston Harbor is a proposed $2.1 billion project that will include a five-star resort with more than 600 hotel rooms, high-end spa, retail, dining and much more. The property will be located along the Mystic River, the site will allow for public enjoyment of the waterfront and retail and dining experiences that overlook the river walk.
Tercentenary exhibit: How Plymouth Celebrated Its 300th Anniversary in 1920-21 in Pilgrim Hall Museum exhibiting until 25 April 2017.
The story of the Pilgrim Tercentenary exposes the depth of changes in American culture since 1920, and poses a remarkable model for today, with the pending 400th anniversary of Plymouth. The exhibit presents original costume designs with rare surviving costumes worn in the Pilgrim pageant, hundreds of Tercentenary images, objects, posters, drawings, plans and memorials that reveal how, a century ago, Americans commemorated the Pilgrims and celebrated the nation’s early founding.
Until 4 June 2017 at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, Amherst, It’s Me, Eloise exhibits. It includes more than 90 artworks from the Eloise collaborations as well as art from the rest of Knight’s prodigious career as a children’s book artist, poster artist, magazine illustrator and painter.
This exhibition will be the first one to link Norman Rockwell and Andy Warhol and it is open for visitors from 10 June – 29 October 2017 at Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge. Norman Rockwell and Andy Warhol are two iconic visual communicators who embraced populism, shaped national identity and opened new ways of seeing in twentieth century America.
On 27 May 2017, The John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum and Library will unveil a special exhibition titled “JFK at 100: Milestones and Mementos” and it will be on show for a year. Featuring a compelling selection of items from the JFK Library’s collections, the exhibition will chronicle historic milestones in the President’s career and administration, as well as events of his personal and family life.
From his boyhood years sailing his boat Victura in Nantucket to his final summer as President, Cape Cod was a place John F. Kennedy loved and often called home. A special Exhibit will open in the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum on 25 May 2017 until 1 December 2017 entitled “JFK at 100: Life and Legacy”. The exhibition will tell JFK's story through the lens of his years at the Cape including the time with parents, brothers and sisters, entertaining friends, summers with his wife Jacqueline and their children, political campaigns and above all, the Presidency. Also on 28th May the JFK Commemorative Concert in collaboration with the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra will take place at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center.
This Ever New Self: Thoreau and His Journal 29 September 2017 – 21 January 2018 at Concord Museum in Concord. The 200th birthday of Concord’s native son, Henry David Thoreau, happens on July 17, 2017 and a planned joint exhibition will be devoted to an American influential authors and thinkers. The exhibit will include the Concord Museum’s collection of Thoreau objects (the largest in the world) along with Thoreau’s manuscript journal.
St Patrick’s Day will soon be upon us, as well as America’s first Irish Catholic President’s (JFK) 100th birthday and to top it all off, 20.5% of Massachusetts’ residents claim Irish ancestry. As a result Charles D. Baker, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has proclaimed March 2017 Irish Heritage Month.
Visitors will find live music Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis on the first Friday of every month from 5PM-7PM. It’s free admission and there is a cash bar.
JFK Centennial Commemorative Concert on JFK’s Centennial birthday 28 May 2017 from 5-7pm at Barnstable Performing Arts Center, West Main Street, Hyannis celebrate JFK’s birthday. A special concert with beautiful music, personal accounts, as well as historic videos and images commemorating the centennial birthday of John F. Kennedy. The Cape Symphony will be there and the concert is hosted by Jung-Ho Pak with guests including members of the Kennedy family, government leaders and distinguished artists.
Sail Boston is welcoming the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta on 17-22 June 2017. Boston is the only selected American port in the Regatta which is a 7,000 nautical mile transatlantic race visiting six countries. Royal Greenwich in the UK will be the first host of the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta in April.
14th Annual Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festivalat Revere beach from 21-23 July 2017. This is one of the largest sand sculpting competition in the world and festival kicks off on 21st July with live music and more.
