Boston Symphony Orchestra wins 2017 Grammy Award for Best Orchestral Performance. Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism would like to congratulate them and highlight the state’s array of live music venues.
Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) have been performing for 136 years, they are a world-class orchestral ensemble and this is their ninth Grammy Award. Visitors can enjoy BSO concert performances in Boston and at Tanglewood in Massachusetts, as well as via the internet, radio, television, educational programs, recordings and their tours.

Symphony Hall: a concert hall in Boston built in 1900 for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The hall was modelled after two of the top concert halls in the world, the Leipzig Neues Gewandhaus and the old Boston Music Hall. Visitors will find the walls of the stage slope inward to help focus the sound, the side balconies are shallow so sound is not trapped and the recesses of the coffered ceiling, along with the statue-filled niches and the three sides help to distribute the sound throughout the hall. Scullers Jazz Club: since 1989, the legendary Scullers Jazz Club has presented Latin and Contemporary Jazz, as well as Blues, Soul, R & B, Cabaret and World Music in Boston. The 200-seat Scullers Jazz Club has become a true Boston landmark. Visitors can enjoy performances along with spectacular views of Boston’s skyline and the Charles River.

Cape Cod and the Islands
Cape Cod Melody Tent: for over 60 years, the Cape Cod Melody Tent, has been presenting world-class entertainment in the scenic Massachusetts coastal communities of Cohasset and Hyannis. A continuously-operated theatre tent that hosts a variety of performances.
Tanglewood: the famed summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and widely known as one of the world's most beloved music festivals. This is a music festival held each summer on the Tanglewood estate in Stockbridge and Lenox in the Berkshire Hills, Western Massachusetts. The festival consists of concerts including musical theater, contemporary music, jazz, and pop music. Visitors can bring a blanket, a picnic basket full of goodies and enjoy the music.

BSO Music Director Andris Nelsons just announced that British-born James Burton is the next Conductor of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. James Burton's primary duties as Conductor of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus will include auditioning, selecting, and preparing the chorus for performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops at Symphony Hall in Boston, on tour and at Tanglewood.
